“A little wildflower is on her way” bridal shower at the Valens Community Centre.

40th Anniversary & Grand Re-opening
Jim Spencer, chair of the Valens Community Centre subcommittee, welcomes guests and thanks longtime volunteers Karen Campbell and Mary Reeve for their years of service. He also recognizes the late Walter MacNeil, the former chair and wearer of many other hats, for his dedication to the centre. Jim told everyone a memorial bench is in the works, which will feature a plaque with Walter’s name on it. (Photos by Michelle Odendahl)

Matthew Campbell, a professional musician from Cambridge, performed at the event.
Hope Reformed Christian School Catering cooked the delicious roast beef dinner. Some of the school’s students served the meal.
In addition to the roast beef, the dinner included smashed potatoes, two vegetables, a salad and rolls.
More than 100 community members attended the event.

The Valens Community Centre subcommittee has held a number of beef barbecues. Here, hungry community members wait in line for their food.
